A quieter area of Brittany, but with the delightful small towns of Pont Avenand Nevez nearby, plus Port Manec'h . A national waymarked footpath follows the coastline from rocky promontaries to small sandy coves. Boat trips up the Aven and Belon rivers in summer. Concarneau is the nearest large town with its walled citadel and fish market well worth a visit.
Nestled in the hollow of an estuary, Pont Aven is famous for it’s contemporary art school and biscuit (galette) making. The school of painting is well represented through exhibitions at the Pont Aven museum in Place de l’Hotel-de-ville. You can walk to the Bois d’Amour, the wood of love, it’s scenery inspired Symbolist painters in the 19th C. The walk also leads to the marina, once a fishing port, and a few of the preserved remains of local flourmills.
"lovely house very quiet area, friendly but non intrusive owner, perfect holiday highly recommended"
Mr I Jones - Worcester (8/2012)
"Overall we had a great time in Brittany - the area was superb for a young family. Loads of great restaurants and attractions. The gite owner was exceptionally friendly and helpful and this made up for any issues with the gite itself. If only the weather had been marginally better this would have made the holiday an A rather than a B."
