Pays Bigouden
The Pays Bigouden is a district of Cornouaille that is famous for its tall Breton headdresses. Pont-l'Abbe is the largest town in a district that extends from Plozevet in the west to the banks of the Odet in the east. The landscape is varied, but the inhabitants have a strong sense of local identity. Before the advent of tourism, the only industry was fishing.
Guilvinec - Guilvinec owes its prosperity to crayfish and lobsters, and it has remained an important fishing port, the fourth largest in France. The whole economy of the district, from fish auctions and canneries to naval dockyards, is dependent on the sea. A sight not to be missed is the return of the trawlers at about 4 p.m. every day.

The headland is worth a visit in itself. There is a path all the way around it. In the centre of the peninsula, which ends in the Rock of la Torche, there is a gigantic dolmen. This headland is famous internationally for its huge breakers � be careful to obey the warning signs about bathing � and its surfing and funboard contests.
