Brittany's Best Beaches
Brittany Travel's Top 20 Beaches are...
-
1. Audierne on Cap Sizun
This is a long stretch of fine white sand and there is a good choice of bars and restaurants at hand. This is also the place to pick up a day boat trip across to the Ile de Sein.
Our recommended property is Chez Perlise 2
-
2. Morgat on south side of Crozon Peninsula
Popular with the French, but less visited by British travellers, this is a huge sandy bay with lots going on - ideal for families with teenagers who want to do their own thing.
Our recommended property is L'Oree du Bois
-
3. Lantecoste, between Cap Coz and Beg Meil
This tiny cove is one of a number of 'secret' beaches along this stretch. We like this one because the trees at the back of the beach provide shade, so it is ideal for tinies.
Our recommended property is Ty Francoise
-
4. Trestrignel Beach, Perros Guirec
The Casino and Grand Hotel recall this smart resort's Edwardian heyday. It is still very popular with some good cafes and restaurants behind the wide, sandy beach.
Our recommended property is Bles d'Or
-
5. Port Manech near Pont Aven
Favourite chill-out beach where the river meets the sea, with no passing traffic and just a quiet beach bar.
Our recommended property is Kerodet
-
6. Le Sterr at Guilvinec
This strangely under-rated beach is a seemingly-endless stretch of sand running up to the Eckmuhl Lighthouse (307 steps, open until mid-September)
Our recommended property is Bleu Marin
-
7. Baie de Trepasses, Cap Sizun
This big curve of sand and pebbles looking towards the most westerly point of Europe - the Pointe du Raz - is popular with surfers. The lost city of Ys is said to lie beneath the waves here.
Our recommended property is Kerroch
-
8. Cote Sauvage near Quiberon
Idyllic on a calm summer's day, this famous beach backed by towering cliffs is a real spectacle during autumn storms!
Our recommended property is Beaumer
-
9. Plouescat, west of Roscoff
This is a real away-from-it-all beach with a tidal lagoon (or Anse) and grassy dunes providing shelter on windy days.
Our recommended property is Kerrus Rau
-
10. Benodet's town beach
The beach is not very big, but it is a real crowd-pleaser with lots going on to suit everyone in an extended family, from free concerts by the Fort to water-sports, and boat trips from the nearby port, not to mention bars and restaurants to suit every budget.
Our recommended property is Glenan

Ideal for families, long and flat and backed by the town of St Cast.
Our recommended property is Feuillade

Famous for scallops - and its wonderful sandy beaches and local pink stone used for cobbles in Paris!
Our recommended property is Vieux Moulin

17. St Gildas
The beach is close to the delightful town with its ancient monasty in the centre. Superb coastal walk.
Our recommended property is Inezic

Right in the town of Larmor Plage so always busy, but with this much sand there is always lots of space.
Our recommended property is Tournasol
